VersiFlex Pressing Tips - Cotton

VersiFlex is a versatile solution for decorating a wide variety of substrates. To achieve the best results, follow the pressing guidelines below for cotton applications.

Recommended Types of Cotton

For best results, use smooth, tightly woven, 100% cotton fabrics. These provide an even surface for the VersiFlex film to bond properly, resulting in sharp, vibrant prints.

  • Combed cotton: High-quality, refined fibres that create a smoother surface and excellent print clarity.

  • Cotton jersey (light to medium weight): Ideal for T-shirts and everyday garments.

Fabrics to Avoid

Certain cotton fabrics can interfere with adhesion or affect the final print appearance.

Avoid:

  • Pre-treated or coated cottons (e.g., water-repellent, waxed, or pigment-dyed) – coatings can block the VersiFlex film from adhering properly.

Fabric Weight Guidelines

For consistent results, select a light- to medium-weight cotton (150–200 gsm).
Heavier fabrics may require higher pressure and can retain heat unevenly, which may reduce print quality.

Pre-Washing Fabrics

Always pre-wash cotton garments before pressing to remove any residues, coatings, or shrinkage.
This step ensures consistent colour performance and long-lasting adhesion.

Pressing Instructions

  • Temperature: 375 °F (190 °C)

  • Time: 30 seconds

  • Pressure: Medium (some resistance when closing the press)

Additional Tips for Best Results

  • Lint-roll the garment before pressing to remove dust and fibres.

  • Pre-press for 5–10 seconds to eliminate moisture and flatten the fabric.

  • Use a clean, even pressing surface for consistent heat and pressure.

  • Replace blowout paper after each press to avoid ghosting or ink transfer.
