How-To: Connecting your Printer via WiFi (SG500/1000)

Connecting your Sawgrass printer to a wireless network allows you to print from any compatible computer on the same network without the need for a direct USB or Ethernet connection. Before beginning the setup process, it is important to verify that your printer model supports Wi-Fi, that your wireless network meets the required specifications, and that the printer is located within range of a strong wireless signal.

This article covers the requirements for wireless connectivity, explains how to configure the printer for wireless operation, and provides step-by-step instructions for connecting to your network using either the WPS method or by selecting your wireless network and entering the password manually. It also explains how to verify the wireless signal strength to help ensure a stable and reliable connection.

Connection Requirements and Setup Tips

  • Important: Only the SG500 & SG1000 EU/NA models are equipped with WiFi.
  • EUX models are not WiFI enabled
  • Have your network password ready before starting the process.
  • The printer must connect to a 2.4Ghz wireless network
  • A signal strength of 75% or higher is recommended. If the signal strength is not high enough, the connection may drop or cause slow printing.
  • Both the Printer and the PC you will be installed the printer on, must be on the same network (SSID).
  • To enable the Wireless function on the printer, the LAN Type must be set to Wireless LAN

Setting the LAN Type

The “LAN type” is the way the printer is connected, whether it is wirelessly or with an ethernet cable.

  1. Press the [Menu] button.

Now that the printer is set up for Wi-Fi, the two main methods of connecting your printer to the wireless network are as following:

  •
    •
      • Either using the WPS Button on your wireless Router or modem
      • Or using the SSID Auto Search and entering your Wireless password

Once connected it is also important to verify the signal strength of the connection. Remember, we recommend 75% or above for a stable connection.
