Sawgrass Print Utility (SPU) now includes the ability to export and import configuration files. These configuration files contain your SPU settings and custom colours, making it easy to:
- Set up the same printer configuration across multiple workstations
- Restore settings after reinstalling Sawgrass Print Utility
- Quickly replicate a known working setup
Exporting a Configuration File
Follow the steps below to export your Sawgrass Print Utility configuration:
- Open Sawgrass Print Utility.
- Click Tools in the top menu.
- Select Export/Import Configuration.
- Choose Export.
- Select the elements you wish to export.
- All items are selected by default.
- You may leave all items selected to export the complete configuration, including settings and custom colours.
- Click Export Selected.
- Choose a save location for the file.
The configuration file will be saved with a .spucf file extension.
Importing a Configuration File
When you are ready to import a previously saved configuration file, follow these steps:
- Open Sawgrass Print Utility.
- Click Tools in the top menu.
- Select Export/Import Configuration.
- Select Import
- Click Select File.
- Browse to and select the .spucf configuration file.
- Click Import Configuration
- Choose which settings you would like to import.
- All settings are selected by default.
Assign printers as needed:
- Select which printer to assign to the Quick Print folder as well as the Sawgrass Quick Print Folder Path.
- Select which printer(s) to assign to the Virtual “Send to Sawgrass Print Utility” printer.
- When ready, click Import Configuration.
Notes and Best Practices
- Ensure the target printer models are installed on the workstation before importing a configuration file.
- Importing a configuration may overwrite existing SPU settings.
- Configuration files are ideal for standardising setups in multi-user or multi-PC environments.
- It is possible to Skip assigning Printers to Virtual Printers and Quick Print.
