Welcome to the Error Code Guide!
Below is a list of Service Code errors that may get displayed on your printer. The majority of these are easily resolvable however our Sawgrass Care team will be here if you need us!
Note:
It's very important to only use genuine, non-expired Sawgrass Inks to avoid damage to your machine

Error 20000
If you have received this error, the maintenance unit may have damage or have debris preventing it from operating as it should.
To get this resolved we will need to complete a few steps to move your printhead to the left. To do so, please follow the steps below:
- First, turn off your printer. Yes, we are giving you the okay to turn off the printer! (Just for a short amount of time)
- Next, open the top cover of the printer and locate the printhead. Your printhead is a long, black box located inside of the printer, to the right.
- Using a small flathead screwdriver, insert and wedge into the gray spring-loaded lid sensor.
- Now, turn your printer back on. As the printhead moves to the other side, remove the power cord from the side of the printer to stop the printhead in the middle of the printer.
- Check for any damage or debris on or around the capping station. Your capping station is a white plastic piece that holds two long ovals. This will be located underneath your printhead.
- Sometimes, pressing firmly downwards on the white part of the capping station can click it back in place.
- First, turn off your printer. Yes, we are giving you the okay to turn off the printer! (Just for a short amount of time)

Error 20200
To resolve this error, follow the steps below:
- First, remove your ink cartridges, Waste ink tank and power the printer off. (It is okay to turn it off for this process)
- If the Waste ink tank feels fulls, it may be time to replace it.
- Next, shake your ink cartridges lightly. If the cartridge feels empty, it may be time for a new cartridge.
- Now you can power your printer back on. Once it boots up, go ahead and reinsert your ink cartridges and waste tank.
- Gently clean the horizontal encoder in its entirety.
- Power the printer off and perform a capping station clean.
- First, remove your ink cartridges, Waste ink tank and power the printer off. (It is okay to turn it off for this process)

Errors 20211-20214
The following SC error codes will correlate to a certain ink cartridge and channel:
The error codes match the following ink cartridge colors:
- 20211: Cyan
- 20212: Black
- 20213: Yellow

Errors 20221-20224

- 20221: Cyan
- 20222: Black

- First, remove the ink cartridge that correlates with the error code that you are receiving from your printer and power your printer off.
- Once removed, gently shake the correlating ink cartridge. If the cartridge feels empty, it may be time for a new cartridge.
- Now, power the printer back on. Once the printer is back on, reinsert your ink cartridge.
- Power the printer off and clean the capping station.
- First, remove the ink cartridge that correlates with the error code that you are receiving from your printer and power your printer off.

Errors 20230-20300
To resolve this error, follow the steps below:
- First, remove your ink cartridges, Waste ink tank and power the printer off. (It is okay to turn it off for this process)
- Next, shake your ink cartridges lightly. If the cartridge feels empty, it may be time for a new cartridge.
- Now you can power your printer back on. Once it boots up, go ahead and reinsert your ink cartridges and waste tank.

Error 20231-20234
The following SC error codes will correlate to a certain ink cartridge and channel:

- 20231: Cyan
- 20232: Black
- 20233: Yellow

- First, remove the ink cartridge that correlates with the error code that you are receiving from your printer and power your printer off.
- Once removed, gently shake the correlating ink cartridge. If the cartridge feels empty, it may be time for a new cartridge.
- Now, power the printer back on. Once the printer is back on, reinsert your ink cartridge.
- Power the printer off and clean the capping station, you may need to perform this multiple times.
- First, remove the ink cartridge that correlates with the error code that you are receiving from your printer and power your printer off.

Errors 20241-20244
The following SC error codes will correlate to a certain ink cartridge and channel:
The error codes match the following ink cartridge colors:
- 20241: Cyan
- 20242: Black
- 20243: Yellow

- First, remove the ink cartridge that correlates with the error code that you are receiving from your printer and power your printer off.
- Once removed, gently shake the correlating ink cartridge. If the cartridge feels empty, it may be time for a new cartridge.
- Now, power the printer back on. Once the printer is back on, reinsert your ink cartridge.
- Finally, at the back of the printhead there is a long, white switch. You want to press this switch twice to click it out of place and then back into place.
- First, remove the ink cartridge that correlates with the error code that you are receiving from your printer and power your printer off.

Errors 20251-20254
The following SC error codes will correlate to a certain ink cartridge and channel:
These error codes correlate to the following ink cartridge colors:
- 20251: Cyan
- 20252: Black
- 20253: Yellow
- 20254: Magenta
- First, remove your ink cartridges and power the printer off. (It is okay to turn it off for this process)
- Next, shake your ink cartridges lightly. If the cartridge feels empty, it may be time for a new cartridge.
- Now you can power your printer back on. Once it boots up, go ahead and reinsert your ink cartridges.
- Gently clean the horizontal encoder in its entirety.
- Next, open the top cover of your printer and find the printhead. Your printhead is a long, black box located inside the printer, to the right.
- Once you have located the printhead, you will see that at the back are some black, plastic fins or levers. These are the "feelers" of the printhead. These are used to measure the amount of ink in the print head tank.
- Gently move the feelers, starting on the right and working your way to the left. They should not be sticking. Also check for any obstruction at the rear of the head.
- Warning: You may see a little bit of ink leak from your printhead. That is okay, do not be alarmed! Make sure there is no dust present in the sensor.
Tip
If you are unable to reach the feelers, try using a small non-metal object to move them from right to left.

Errors 21000 / 21100
If you have received this error, your horizontal encoder has most likely moved out of place or has a little dust or grease on it.
Locating the horizontal encoder.
- Open the top cover of your printer.
- Next look for the metal bar or strip that runs across the width of the printer. This is the "carriage rail". It helps guide the printhead from side to side.
- Now look to the front of the carriage rail and you will see a thin, metallic strip. This is your "horizontal encoder". The horizontal encoder reads the data sent to the printer and directs the printhead when to start and stop.
- Think of the horizontal encoder as a map for your printhead!

- The horizontal encoder should be straight from side to side with little slack and go through the sensor under the carriage.
- If it is straight and in place through the sensor under the carriage, then give it a very gentle clean with a lint free cloth and some alcohol.
Tips
If you are unable to find the horizontal encoder, look inside the printer from the right side. (Same side as your ink door)
- Open the top cover of your printer.

Error 28000
If you have received this error, the air pressure release valve in your printer could be stuck.
To resolve this error, follow the steps below:
- First, remove all ink cartridges from your printer and power it off.
- Next, shake the ink cartridges lightly. If your cartridge feels empty, it may be time for a new cartridge.
- Now power the printer back on. Once the printer is on, insert the ink cartridges.
Note: If these steps do not remove the error, try the steps below.
If the error comes back, try the following steps:

Located at the back of the printhead, press the two white, rectangular switches in and allow the switches to release on their own. Do this a couple of times.
- If the error persists, leave the printer powered off for a few hours, then power the printer on
- First, remove all ink cartridges from your printer and power it off.

Errors 28111-28114
The following SC error codes correlate to a certain ink cartridge and channel:
These error codes correlate to the following ink cartridge colors:
- 28111: Cyan
- 28112: Black
- 28113: Yellow
- 28114: Magenta

First, remove the ink cartridge that correlates with the error code that you are receiving and power the printer off. (Only for a short period of time)
- Next, lightly shake the ink cartridge. If your cartridge feels empty, it may be time for a new cartridge.
- Now, power the printer back on. Once the printer is back on, insert your ink cartridge.
- If the error persists, replace the cartridge of the affected channel.

Errors 28211 / 28212 / 28213
The following SC error codes correlate to a certain ink cartridge and channel:
These error codes correlate to the following ink cartridge colors:
- 28211: Print Head 1 (Black/Cyan)
- 28212: Print Head 2 (Yellow/Magenta)
- 28213: Print Head 1 & 2 (Black/Cyan/Magenta/Yellow)

First, remove the ink cartridge that correlates with the error code that you are receiving and power the printer off. (Only for a short period of time)
- Next, lightly shake the ink cartridge. If your cartridge feels empty, it may be time for a new cartridge.
- Now, power the printer back on. Once the printer is back on, insert your ink cartridge.
- If the error persists, replace the cartridges of the affected channels.

Error 29500
If you have received this error, the air purge detection switch in the printer could be stuck.
- First turn off your printer. (It is okay to turn off the printer for this process only.)
- While the printer is off, open the top cover and find the printhead. Your printhead is a long, black box located inside the printer, to the right.
- Once the printer is completely powered down, turn the printer back on with the top still open.
- As the printer powers on, the printhead will move towards the other side. When it reaches the middle, go ahead and remove the power cord from the printer to leave the printhead in the middle.
- Next, check to see if the air purge detection switch is damaged. That switch is a white bar with a spring attached on the ride side of the inside of your printer.
- Press the switch a couple of times to make sure it is not stuck in the upright position. You can do this using your index finger.
- Now that the air purge detection switch is not stuck, look to the back of the printhead.
- Located at the back of the printhead, press the two white rectangular switches in and allow the switches to release on their own. (Do this a couple of times)
- Finally, leave the printer powered off for at least 30 minutes before turning it back on.
Tip
If you are having issues pressing the white button, try moving or pressing it gently with a flathead screwdriver or moving the print head to the middle.
- First turn off your printer. (It is okay to turn off the printer for this process only.)

Errors 52000 / 57000 / 57001
If you have received this error, your printer might have a dirty feed belt.
- First, open the top cover of your printer and locate the paper feed belt. The feed belt looks like a shiny black strip of plastic down the middle of your printer.
- Next, check to see if there is any damage or debris on your feed belt.
- If no damage is perceivable, you will need to clean your feed belt.

Error 93200
If you have received this error, your printer might not have proper ventilation.
- First, make sure there is enough space surrounding the printer so that it can have proper ventilation.
- Ensure it is not near any heat source or direct sun light.
- Next, power the printer off and leave the printer off for at least an hour.

Error 93300
Unfortunately due to the severity of the error, your printer will need to be replaced.
