Bypass Tray Explained

The Bypass Tray is an additional tray that slots into the rear of your printer.

  1. Why do I need a bypass tray?
      • The “bypass tray” attachment will allow you to print on larger paper which you would otherwise not be able to use.

  2. What size paper can fit in my Bypass Tray?

      • SG400/SG500
        • Up to 8.5 x 51” is the largest paper size you can if in the bypass tray.
        • The width does not change for this model of printer.

      • SG800/SG1000
        • Up to 13 x 51” is the largest paper size you can fit in the bypass tray.

Follow the steps below to begin setup for the Bypass Tray:

 

Adding the Bypass Tray to the Printer

Before setup:

    • Make sure the printer is off and unplugged
    • Take the Bypass Tray out of the box and remove the tape
    • Turn the printer off and unplug the printer
    • Grab a coin. It will come in handy later we promise!

Removing the Noise Cancellation bar [SG500 Only]

    1. Before adding the bypass tray we will need to remove the Noise Cancellation Bar from the rear of the printer. This bar sits just at the top of the rear door.

    2. Open the rear door using the two grey latches and using your thumbs pull down the noise cancellation cover.

    3. Close the rear door, making sure the gray tabs have clicked back in. Once remove the rear should look like the below leaving a large gap for the bypass tray.

Adding the Bypass Tray:

 

  1. Press and hold down the [Power] button until the printer turns off, and then unplug the power cord.

  2. Disconnect the USB cable or Ethernet cable, if connected.

  3. Take the bypass tray out of the box, and any of the packaging tape.

  4. Attach the bypass tray while pressing the tabs on each side, and then push it in all the way.mceclip0.png
    Make sure to return the tabs to their original positions.
    If the tabs do not return to their original positions, push the tray in while pulling up on its top left part as shown.

The SG1000 will come with an anti-topple stand which you may want to attach.

      • Now, grab the coin of your choice and coin screw to attach the L-shaped anti-topple stand to secure the bypass tray. This will help the tray stay in place while printing.
      • To attach the bypass tray to your printer, press the two gray tabs on both sides of the bypass tray.
      • While these are pushed down, fit, and push the bypass tray into the printer until it clicks.
        • Make sure the gray tabs on the side of the bypass tray are pushed back out into their original position.

 

Adding the Bypass to Windows

To view video subtitles in your language, please press c (subtitles/closed captions), followed by Settings > Subtitles/cc and then select your language.

 

  1. On the [Start] menu, click [Settings], and then click [Devices]. Then click [Printers and Scanners].

  2. Select the Printer, and then click [Manage].

  3.  Select [Printer Properties]

  4. Click the [Accessories] tab, then under [Options], ensure that [Bypass Tray] is checked.

  5. Click [Apply] and [OK] to Close

 

Adding the Bypass to MacOS

To view video subtitles in your language, please press c (subtitles/closed captions), followed by Settings > Subtitles/cc and then select your language.

 

  1. On the [Apple] menu, click [System Preferences...], and then click the [Printers & Scanners].

  2. Select the printer you want to use, and then click [Options & Supplies...].

  3. Click the [Options] tab and check the Bypass Tray option and then click [OK].

SPM

Once the Bypass tray has been added to the driver, be sure to select Bypass in the Print Manager Print Settings when printing from this tray.

Tips

Make sure to attach the bypass tray before turning the printer on if you bought the additional tray and printer at the same time.
If the bypass tray does not “click in” try pushing down the gray buttons and moving it up and then to the left.
Make sure to put 3-5 sheets of paper in the bypass tray so the printer can detect the paper!
