Printing Small Paper Sizes on the SG500 and SG1000

It is possible to print on mug paper and other small media sizes using the Sawgrass SG500 and SG1000 printers. For the most reliable and consistent results, we recommend printing from the Main Tray rather than the Option Tray, particularly when working with smaller paper sizes.

Minimum Supported Paper Sizes

Please note the following minimum paper size requirements:

Main Tray

  • Minimum supported width: 55 mm (2.17 inches)

Option Tray (Tray 2)

  • Minimum supported width: 105 mm (4.13 inches)

Bypass Tray

  • Minimum supported width: 55 mm (2.17 inches)

Attempting to print paper smaller than the minimum supported size for the selected tray will cause the print job to reset.

Why the Main Tray Is Recommended

Printing from the Main Tray provides better reliability when using small-format media due to the following:

  • The paper path from the Main Tray has a shorter travel length

  • A shorter paper path introduces fewer variables during feeding

  • Reduced risk of skew, slippage, or timing issues

  • More consistent paper alignment and print quality
