Using third-party inks in a Sawgrass printer can lead to several issues due to compatibility concerns. Sawgrass printers are designed to work optimally with our proprietary inks, which are tailored to deliver the best performance and quality. Here are the potential consequences of using non-genuine ink cartridges and solutions to get your printer back on track:
Consequences of Using Third-Party Inks
-
Print Quality Degradation
Third-party inks may not provide the same color vibrancy, consistency, or accuracy as Sawgrass inks, leading to subpar results. - Printed Watermarks
When printing using third party cartridges, you may notice a watermark in a grid or diamond shaped pattern appearing on you prints (grid lines). This would lead to wasted paper. -
Printer Damage
The chemical composition of third-party inks might not be compatible with Sawgrass printers, potentially clogging print heads, causing error codes or damaging internal components. -
Void Warranty
Using non-Sawgrass inks will void the manufacturer's warranty, leaving you responsible for repair or replacement costs. -
Color Output Issues
The Sawgrass color profiles that are embedded in the Sawgrass Print Utility are calibrated for our own inks. Third-party inks will not provide the same color accuracy, making designs appear different from expectations. - Access to Technical Support
Sawgrass provides comprehensive support for their products, but this support often depends on the use of genuine consumables. Using non-genuine inks will limit your access to expert assistance when needed.
Solutions to Get Back on Track
-
Replace Cartridges
- Install genuine Sawgrass ink cartridges for your printer model
-
Flush the System
- Complete five head flushes to push the third party ink out of the system
-
Perform Maintenance
- Perform a nozzle check to see if there are any clogged nozzles.
- If there are missing nozzles on the check, perform maintenance to clear the issues
-
Contact Sawgrass Support
- If issues persist, reach out to Sawgrass technical support for assistance. They may offer guidance for cleaning or repairing your printer.
-
Prevent Future Issues
- Always use Sawgrass inks to maintain optimal performance and avoid voiding the warranty.
- Store inks in a cool, dry place to prevent spoilage.
