The paper feed sensor plays an important role in detecting the presence of paper as it enters the printer. Over time, paper dust and other small particles can accumulate around the sensor, preventing it from operating correctly. This may result in paper feed issues, including paper misfeed errors or the printer failing to detect loaded media.
Cleaning the paper feed sensor is a quick and simple maintenance task that can be performed periodically to help maintain reliable paper feeding and reduce the likelihood of paper-related errors.
This guide explains how to safely remove the paper feed sensor, clear any accumulated paper dust or debris using a soft brush or compressed air, and reinstall the sensor before returning the printer to normal operation.
Important: Do not use liquids or cleaning solvents on the sensor. A soft brush, compressed air, or gently blowing away the dust is sufficient to clean the sensor without causing damage.
To clean the sensor, we recommend using either a small brush (such as a small paint brush) or some compressed air. Alternately, simply blowing on it can also help clear any paper dust or debris.
- Power the printer Off.
- Remove the sensor cover from the middle of the rollers.
- Remove the sensor
- Blow out or remove using a brush any paper dust that may prevent the sensor from working properly.
- Reinsert the sensor and power the printer On.
