Sawgrass Print Utility Settings Explained

Save Recent Jobs: Allows completed print jobs to appear in the Recent menu, where they can be selected and reprinted using the same image and print settings.

Enable Spot Colors: When enabled, the Spot Color tab will appear under Custom Color Management .

Note: A printer must first be added to Sawgrass Print Utility for this option to become available.

Maximum Open Tabs: Allows you to set the maximum number of print job tabs that can remain open at one time. Once this limit is reached, you will need to close an existing tab before opening another.

Note: Keeping a large number of print job tabs open may affect system performance.

Connected Printers: The Connected Printers list displays Sawgrass printers installed on your computer. A printer will appear in the list once it has been successfully  added to Sawgrass Print Utility.

The printer’s current status is shown beneath its name, along with an indication of whether it is set as the default printer .

Ink & Waste Ink Levels: The right side of the Connected Printers section Displays the remaining ink level for each cartridge and the current waste ink tank level.

Note: Ink and waste ink tank levels may not display correctly if there is a connection issue between the printer and computer. The waste ink tank level increases as it fills and must be replaced when it reaches 100% .

Printer Utilities: Opens the Printer Utilities , where you can print a Nozzle Check , Primary Chart , or Full Page Bleed , and perform a Head Clean .

Note: When performing a Head Clean , select Head 1 (Cyan/Black) , Head 2 (Magenta/Yellow) , or Both Heads . Select only the head that corresponds to the affected color channels whenever possible to conserve ink.

Remove: The Remove option removes the selected printer from the Connected Printers list in Sawgrass Print Utility.

When removing a printer, you can choose one of the following options:

• Remove from Sawgrass Print Utility – removes the printer from Sawgrass Print Utility, but keeps the printer and driver installed in Windows. Choose this option if you only want to stop using the printer in Sawgrass Print Utility and may want to add it back later.
• Uninstall from System – removes the printer from Sawgrass Print Utility and uninstalls the printer from Windows. Choose this option if you are replacing the printer, troubleshooting a driver issue, or no longer need the printer installed on the computer.

Automatically Print: Sends print jobs directly to the printer without displaying the Sawgrass Print Utility print window.

Mirror: Reverses the image horizontally before printing. This option is enabled by default for most sublimation workflows, where the printed transfer must be mirrored before pressing. Disable it only when your specific workflow does not require a mirrored image.

Centre on Page: Positions the image in the centre of the selected page.

Uniform Spacing: Sets an equal amount of spacing between images when multiple images are nested on the same page.

Product: Lists the available product profiles for the selected printer, such as Metal, Ceramic, or other supported substrates.

Media Type: Lists the compatible transfer papers or media types available for the selected Product.

The available options may vary depending on the selected printer, Product, and print settings.

Print Quality: Allows you to select the print resolution and speed. The available options may vary depending on the selected printer model, Product, and Media Type. 

• High Speed: Prints at 300 dpi for faster output.
• High Quality: Prints at 600 dpi, balancing print speed and quality.
• Advanced Photo: Prints at 1200 dpi for increased detail and smoother output.
• UltraFine: Prints at up to 4800 dpi for the highest available quality, with a longer print time.

Higher DPI settings use more printed dots, which can improve fine detail and may help reduce any visible banding.

Color Mode: Controls how colors are processed when printing.

• Photographic: Best for reproducing colors as closely as possible to the original image.
• Vivid: Best suited to logos and vector artwork, with increased saturation for a more vibrant result.
• Grayscale: Designed for black-and-white images.
• Classic: Designed to produce output similar to Sawgrass Print Manager and is the recommended option for reducing visible dithering.
• Custom: Allows you to use a previously saved custom color management profile.

Paper Size: Lists the paper sizes available in Sawgrass Print Utility. The available options will vary depending on the selected printer model. 

Use Paper Size from Originating Application: When enabled, Sawgrass Print Utility automatically uses the paper size selected in the Send to Sawgrass Print Utility virtual driver or originating application.

New: Creates a new Custom Color Adjustment. 

Save: Saves the currently selected Custom Color Adjustment.

Rename: Renames the currently selected Custom Color Adjustment.

Undo: Reverts the most recent change.

Delete: Removes the currently selected Custom Color Adjustment.

Swatch Table: Displays the currently selected swatch table. Use the drop-down menu to switch between available tables.

New Table: Creates a new swatch table for organising custom Spot Color replacements.

Print: Prints the selected swatch table.

Import: Imports an existing swatch table into Sawgrass Print Utility.

Export: Exports the currently selected swatch table for backup or use on another system.

Delete Table: Removes the currently selected swatch table.

Swatch List: Displays all color swatches contained in the selected table. Each swatch shows its name and corresponding color value.

The default Sample table is pre-populated with a selection of color swatches. Additional swatches can be added to this table as needed.

Swatch Color: Selecting a swatch from the list displays its details, including the Input and Output color values. From here, you can update the swatch or delete it from the table. 

Find Similar Color: Opens the Similar Color tool, allowing you to print a palette of color values similar to the selected Input or Output value. This can help you identify the most suitable replacement color.

Delete Swatch: Removes the currently selected color swatch from the table. 

Update: Saves any changes made to the selected swatch, including changes to the Input or Output color values.
