Understanding Save & Save As in MySawgrass

MySawgrass offers two different ways to save your designs, depending on how you intend to use them. Understanding the difference between Save and Save As can help you keep your workspace organized while also making it easy to create multiple variations of the same design.

Using the Save workflow allows you to continue updating a single design without creating duplicate copies. Each time you open the design from My Studio and save it, the existing design is overwritten with your latest changes.

The Save As workflow allows you to create multiple versions of a design. This is useful when creating variations of the same artwork, such as designs with different names, initials, colors, or other personalized elements. By opening a design from My Galleries and saving it with a new name, you can create a separate version while keeping the original intact.

Using the Save Workflow

The Save workflow is ideal when you are making ongoing changes to a single design and do not need to keep previous versions.

To save changes to an existing design:

1. Open the design from My Studio.
2. Make any required changes.
3. Click Save.
4. The existing design will be updated with the latest changes.

Example:
If you create a dog tag design with the letter A, save it, then later reopen it from My Studio and change the letter to B, saving the design will replace the original version. The design with the letter A will no longer exist, and only the updated version will remain.

This workflow helps keep your Studio organized by maintaining a single version of each design.

Using the Save As Workflow

The Save As workflow is useful when you want to create multiple versions of the same design.

To create a new version of an existing design:

1. Open the original design.
2. Save the design to your Galleries.
3. Open the design again from My Galleries.
4. Make the desired changes.
5. Select Save and Print.
6. Enter a new name for the design.
7. Save the design.

A new version of the design will be created while the original remains unchanged.

Example:
If you create a dog tag with the letter A, then open it from My Galleries, change the letter to B, and save it with a new name, you will now have both versions available in My Studio:

• Dog Tag – A
• Dog Tag – B

This workflow is ideal for creating personalized products, alphabet collections, color variations, or other design series where multiple versions need to be retained.
