Head flushing is a more intensive maintenance procedure designed to recover clogged print head nozzles that cannot be restored through standard print head cleaning. If your nozzle check continues to show broken or missing nozzles, or you are experiencing lines or gaps in your prints after performing 2–3 head cleaning cycles, a head flush may help restore print quality.
This guide explains how to perform a head flush directly from the printer's control panel. You can choose to flush Head 1 (Cyan and Black), Head 2 (Yellow and Magenta), or All Heads, depending on which colours are affected.
For best results:
- Print a nozzle check before performing a head flush to identify the affected print head.
- Perform a maximum of five (5) head flushes, printing a new nozzle check after each flush to monitor any improvement.
- Stop the process once all nozzles are present to avoid unnecessary ink consumption.
- Do not power off the printer while a head flush is in progress. If the process is interrupted, print a new nozzle check and restart the procedure if necessary.
Important: A head flush consumes significantly more ink than a standard head cleaning and should only be performed if 2–3 head cleaning cycles have failed to recover the missing nozzles.
Important:
Perform a head flush only if print head nozzles cannot be recovered by 2-3 head cleanings.
- Do not turn the printer off during print head flushing. If the printer is turned off during print head flushing, start again from printing the nozzle check test pattern.
